| Description: | Operate specialized railroad maintenance of way equipment known as GateSync. Assemble, collect data, and unload this specialized aggregate delivery system in service for the Railroad under their direction with little or no supervision. Perform regular maintenance of equipment, trouble shoot problems, and make repairs as needed. |
| Duties: | - Assemble aggregate dump systems per drawings
- Operate the GateSync Aggregate Delivery System
- Work from drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of equipment
- Diagnose equipment failures and select method of repair
- Perform mechanical adjustments solely or assist mechanic in performing repairs on assigned equipment
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble various components of equipment
- Use typical mechanic and electrician tools and test equipment
- Clean debris and lubricants from parts, work area, and equipment
- Check and fuel vehicle and equipment
- Complete routine paperwork as required
- Send daily activity reports using Palm Pilot.
- Conduct work according to standards set by the customer
- Communicate with the customer
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
- Extensive travel involved
- Perform work in technical areas such as fabrication, assembly, and pipefitting
- May be required to occasionally perform work in other areas within the Company

| Qualifications: | - Knows and understands operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy industrial equipment
- Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations
- Must have general knowledge and understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems of heavy industrial equipment
- Knowledge of typical rail cars and their basic components
- Need to have basic computer understanding and use
- Skilled in the operation of heavy equipment
- Ability to perform physical labor and heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions to accomplish goals
- Ability to safely operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on equipment
- Ability to rapidly locate nearest source of help as necessary with limited resources
- Ability to read and write; to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions
- Ability to make independent judgments which have considerable impact on the organization
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the Customer
- Ability to work in areas of different heights and must have good depth perception with good eye/hand coordination
- High School diploma or GED Equivalent
- Basic knowledge of equipment repair in areas of hydraulics and electrical
- Possession of a valid state driver's license and insurable by the Company insurance carrier
- Regularly work in outside weather conditions - including extreme heat or cold
- Work near moving mechanical parts and frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration
- Frequently work in high, precarious places and occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles and possible risks of electrical shock
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
Frequently required to stand, climb, balance, stoop, squat, talk and hear Occasionally required to walk, sit, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste and smell Most often walking on uneven ground and surfaces Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds or equivalent Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus Hearing is essential in this position No relocation necessary.
