| Description: | The GREX Service Planning Division dedicates its efforts to provide the Company continuous, profitable, and increasing revenue through effective marketing and sales. The Manager-Market Development can and will be expected to advance to assignments that are complex in scope. Aspire to be given and accept higher levels of responsibility. | Duties: | Will conduct research to support SPD analysis of New Products and Markets. Draft and produce reports and presentations for sales and management staff.Develop, maintain and track sales volumes by customer, product and revenues.Assist management in internal data mining and preparation of quarterly Board of Directors reports.Assume responsibility in development and maintenance of budgets and forecasts.Develop and assist with an implementation strategy for trade industry advertising.Research, compile and maintain a data base related to railroad maintenance projects and annual planned expense budgets for various railroads as directed.Analyze and evaluate existing and potential products and services for the Railroad industry.Track and report departmental sales activity and expenses.Develop and coordinate internal sales projects and presentations as directed.Extensive travel throughout North America and overseas as required. Transportation can include private personal car, airline, and private plane travel.Develop and maintain a contact database including names, addresses, telephone, email, and fax of pertinent current and potential customers.Daily and Weekly written and verbal reports of employee activities are required.Investigation and action on the projects and details surrounding these activities will be your responsibility to perform as you will have no support staff.Develop and manage projects as assigned by Marketing and other Senior Management. |
| Qualifications: | Working knowledge of railroads, transportation, heavy construction, or combination preferred. Knowledge of or ability to quickly become familiar with Railroad products and services, particularly pertaining to maintenance of track and structures.Knowledge of computers and software with good word processing skills using MS Word, Excel, and other Microsoft applications.A cheerful and open attitude toward learning, with the ability to study and become an expert on GREX current and developmental products and services. Good personal presentation skills. A disciplined work ethic and advocate for GREX management's mission and vision. Ability to maintain a flexible travel calendar. BS degree in Marketing, Communication, or Related field required, Master preferred. Minimum 5 years experience in marketing and sales. PREFERRED: Marketing experience in the Railroad industry. Proven track record in previous marketing position. Aptitude for sales motivated learning and development. Leadership training and certifications in the field. The Business Development Manager will work in an inside office environment; work in railroad environment; will possess the necessary agility and strength required to walk in uneven ground, climb ladders, remain alert and aware to the danger of approaching railroad equipment, etc. Individual is required to talk and hear; vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision; not being color blind; professional appearance as appropriate for the occasion and circumstance.
